Yuri Buenaventura

Yuri Buenaventura (real name Yuri Bedoya) is a Colombian salsa singer born in Buenaventura on May 19, 1967. Yuri’s first name is a tribute to Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, who was the first man to fly into space on 12 April 1961.
It took the pseudonym of Buenaventura, a great port on the Pacific coast of Colombia, a place close to its African roots where a drum is played, the cununo, which is found, almost identical, in Mali and Ecuador.
