International MIDI Files

User guide

Two things worth knowing to get the most out of the site: how to grab files with the cart, and how to listen to and play a file straight from its page.

The cart

The individual catalog is free, no account or sign-up needed — up to 50 files per download.

  1. On an artist's or file's page, click "Add to cart" for each title you're interested in.
  2. The counter at the top of the page (Cart) shows how many files you've gathered so far.
  3. Once you've picked your titles, open the cart and click "Download": all files arrive bundled in a single .zip.

Beyond 50 files, you'll need to download in several batches — the cart refuses any further addition past that limit.

3 cart downloads per day are free. Beyond that, a donation (starting at $3) is asked to keep downloading for the rest of the day — it's this support that keeps International MIDI Files free and ad-free.

The MIDI/Karaoke player

No need to download a file to listen to it: clicking a title takes you to its page, where a full player is built right into the page.

  • Playback: play/pause, skip forward and back 5 seconds, clickable progress bar.
  • Tracks ("Mix" panel): every instrument in the song is shown as a piano roll; clicking a track mutes it, handy for practicing along with a specific instrument.
  • Lyrics ("Karaoke" panel, when available): synced scrolling, syllable by syllable, karaoke-style. A link also lets you download them as a text file, to keep them at hand without leaving the page open.
  • Tempo and key adjustable live, without interrupting playback.

The player runs directly in the browser, on both desktop and mobile — no installation required.

The first time you play a title, give the player a moment to load the instruments before sound starts — the wait depends on how many instruments the song uses and on your connection.
